Build a symbolic mythology system for a brand

Creative & Design brandingstrategycreative-direction

Strong brands use recurring symbols, metaphors, and archetypes consistently across every touchpoint. This prompt helps you define that symbolic layer before a campaign or rebrand goes into production.

Prompt
You are a brand strategist and creative director. I need to define the symbolic mythology for {{BRAND_NAME}}, a {{BRAND_DESCRIPTION}}.

1. Identify one core archetype (from Jung's 12) that best fits the brand. Explain why in 2-3 sentences—don't just name it.
2. Define a primary symbol or motif (visual or conceptual) that could express that archetype. Explain what it must never look like or be confused with.
3. Propose a natural element, material, or texture that aligns with the brand's emotional territory. Be specific (not just 'wood'—say 'raw-edged, unfinished oak').
4. Suggest a recurring narrative tension the brand can own (e.g., 'the known vs. the wild'). Frame it as a short phrase and explain how it shows up in product, copy, and imagery.
5. List 3 things this mythology explicitly excludes—symbols, tones, or references that would undercut it.

Note: Skip this prompt if the brand has fewer than 3 existing creative assets to ground the mythology in reality. Pure speculation without brand context produces archetypes that feel generic.
Variables to fill in
  • {{BRAND_NAME}}
  • {{BRAND_DESCRIPTION}}

How to use this prompt

  1. Copy the prompt above (Copy button on the top-right).
  2. Replace each {{VAR}} with your own value. Variables: {{BRAND_NAME}}{{BRAND_DESCRIPTION}}.
  3. Paste it into one of the recommended tools below.
  4. Iterate: tighten constraints in the prompt if the output is generic.

Why this prompt is structured this way

The prompt is split into explicit steps because LLMs do better when the path is named, not implied. Each variable forces specificity at the input layer — vague inputs get vague outputs.
